THE DANGER OF A SINGLE STORY
By. Anaisa De
La Cruz
Every country, every culture
and every life, are built with many stories which have a close relationship,
but it does not mean that every story is exactly the same as another, or that
one single story reflects the culture and society of an entire country.
A story is one event that one
person lives and every person have many events on their life. But, what happens
when one person only knows and believes one story about something? Well, when a
person tells a story to another who does not known it, and then she repeats the
same action with others, again and again
as a string, each person believes, knows
and generalizes this one story, and that is why comes: the danger of a single
story.
The danger of a single story
happens all the time, in the less important things and even in those which have
a consequence on our lives. That is why I believe that each person has or has
had this danger, no matter how small or big it is or was.
For example the Mexicans are
represented as a man wearing a big rancher hat riding a donkey, in most of the movies, comedies, TV shows,
and more, all over the world. But it does not ensure that all Mexicans are like
that, but if you believe it you make part from the danger of a single story.
